AI would have screened him out. He became one of the strongest hires.
Why a CV says little about how someone will perform in your actual setup.
One of the highest performing people Anselm ever hired would probably have failed many AI screening systems. He came from a corporate background, from a completely different area, and from a purely project driven role. The team was looking for someone for a startup environment, close to sales, with ownership and pace.
On paper, he did not fit on several axes. But in the first conversation it became clear that something resonated. Not just technically, but in style, pace and the way of working together.
We hired him. After a few months, he became an energy driver in the team. After six months, he closed his first deal. He developed incredibly fast because leadership, learning style and work reality fit together.
That experience showed what hiring often misses: a CV says little about how someone will perform in a specific setup. Especially not in relation to a specific leader.
You should not miss the person who could change everything just because their CV does not follow the expected pattern.
